A former Arizona prosecutor, Demitri Downing, has been involved in cannabis related businesses and political activities since Arizona’s first licenses were issued in August 8, 2012. His expertise guided the drafting of Prop 205, Arizona’s legalization bill and he currently serves as an advisor to the 2020 Arizona recreational initiative committee. In 2016 Downing founded MITA, the Arizona Marijuana Industry Trade Association, Arizona’s largest cannabis industry trade association. In addition, Downing is the co-founder of the Southwest Cannabis Conference and Expo (Phoenix, San Diego, Dallas, Miami) and the founding member of NICC (National Indian Cannabis Coalition). Through his company PolicyQuake, Demitri has lobbied in Nevada & Arizona for pro-industry changes in the law; and advised and developed numerous dispensaries and cultivation operations. A graduate of University of Arizona College of Law, Demitri Downing is currently at work on many projects across the United States helping advance the growing industry and business interests.
A former congressional candidate, DNC delegate, school teacher, touring poet and political writer, Mikel Weisser began working on cannabis politics in 2012 and helped draft Arizona’s 2016 cannabis legalization initiative. Since 2015 Mikel Weisser has been the state director of NORML’s Arizona chapter and a consultant to AZ’s cannabis industry. In addition to working as head staff writer for Cannabiz News, his cannabis reporting has been published in Leafly and Freedom Leaf. Weisser has a Masters in English from the University of Illinois at Springfield and a Masters in Secondary Education from Northern Arizona University. He lives with his wife in So-Hi, AZ. Growing up as a young child with osteoarthritis, Destinee found that medical marijuana has had a huge change to her daily lifestyle these past years. Coming from the hospitality industry, also experienced and self-motivated in multiple industries, skilled in photography, customer service, strategic planning, communication, and customer satisfaction, Destinee always envisioned running her own business or little local shop in Arizona and “not a front desk. “
